Illuminated

Photo Challenges, Stockholm

The huge arena was completed and  inaugurated in july 2013, with a capacity of 40.000 spectators. It is situated very close to the city, in the suburb where I stay. I normally pass by it every day, either by bike or walking, feeling diminished. The exterior of the stadium illuminates the surroundings like a UFO from a film. Ailsa’s Travel Theme of the week is Illuminated. To see other contributors, please look at Ailsa’s page.

About a year ago I showed some images from the same place before it was finished, in another photo challenge on the same theme. (At this time of the year it seems we’re always longing for an alternative to the massive darkness) .

  1. Love them all, and especially the perspective of number 4 from the end, where you see the street from this narrow angle.

    • Thank you 🙂
I was actually a bit hesitant about that picture. It seems very trivial when one is surrounded by the Swedish everlasting winter darkness.

        • Are you sure? Today the sun rises at 8:29 and sets at 15:23. That means seventeen hours of darkness. And a daytime temperature of – 7C…

        • I would like to experience it. But I would probably be heavily confused as to what time to eat.

        • A hundred years ago many Swedes were probably starving at this time of year. But nowadays many of us gain weight during winter. We spend most of our time indoors, eating carbs and drinking too much alcohol.
